Chetwynd, British Columbia
Chetwynd, or the District of Chetwynd, is a small town in east-central British Columbia, Canada, at the junction of British Columbia provincial highway 97 (the John Hart Highway) and B.C. p. Highway 29 (Don Philips Way). The town is also on the CN Rail line, and lies on the east side of the Rocky Mountains. Chetwynd is a member community of the Peace River Rigional District. It has a population of 2,591 people (2001) and covers an area of 68.81 km². Elevation is 615 meters (2,018 ft) above sea level. The town claims to the "Forestry Capital of Canada" and the "Chainsaw Carving Capital of the World".
