Chetniks
The Chetniks (Serbian ?etnici, ???????) were a Serbian nationalist and royalist organization with origins in the 19th century Serbian movement opposing Ottoman rule. In World War II, the Yugoslav Royal Army in the Fatherland, also referred to as the Chetniks, was founded on 13th May 1941, on Ravna Gora as a force loyal to the Yugoslav royal government in exile. After some initial skirmishes with the occupying Axis forces, the Chetniks concentrated almost exclusively on fighting the Communist partisan resistance, often collaborating with German, Italian and even Usta?e forces. The name is derived from the Serbian word ?eta which means "military company".
