Chester Nimitz
Chester William Nimitz (February 24, 1885 – February 20, 1966) was the Commander in Chief of Pacific Forces for the United States and Allied forces during World War II. He was the nation's leading authority on submarines, as well as Chief of the Navy's Bureau of Navigation (now called the Bureau of Personnel) in 1939.

Nimitz, was born in Fredericksburg, Texas. He was appointed to the United States Naval Academy from the 12th Congressional District of Texas in 1901, and graduated with distinction in January 1905.
