Charter colony
A charter colony is one of the three types of colonies: a charter colony, proprietary colony, and royal colony. Charter colonies were Connecticut and Rhode Island. They were established by groups of settlers given charter, and had the most control over their own government than the other types of colonies, which were ruled more by the British.
