Charles Whitman

Charles Joseph Whitman (June 24, 1941 - August 1, 1966) was an Eagle Scout and former Marine who, on August 1, 1966, shot and killed 10 people from the tower of the University of Texas at Austin Main Building. He killed 3 others inside and 1 other died from her wounds on the ground a week later. During the 90-minute shooting spree, he also wounded 32 others. The night before, Whitman had also killed his wife and mother. Whitman was an architectural engineering major at the University at the time of the shootings.
