Charles Martinet

Charles Martinet is an American voice actor, best known for providing the voice of Mario, the star of Nintendo's flagship franchise. He also voices supporting characters Luigi, Wario, and Waluigi. Working for Nintendo since 1996, Martinet has voiced Mario since his 3-D debut in Super Mario 64 and is one of the unsung heroes in Mario's immense popularity. He has voiced all four of these characters in each game since. His voicework appears in the English- and Japanese-language version of the games and possibly around the world.

Martinet is by no means limited to Mario, however. For instance, he also provided the voice of Fox McCloud in the English version of Star Fox 64 (this being the only time he voiced Fox, as different actors were selected for the sequels). Likewise, he's not restricted to Nintendo characters, as he voiced the few clips the character Vigoro said in Sega's popular Dreamcast and GameCube RPG, Skies of Arcadia. He was also the narrator for Namco's PAC-MAN VS.

Martinet's voice work is extensive and traverses a much larger scope than just video games, including commercials, cartoons, promotions, and more. He is also an actor and works at trade shows. At E3 2005, Charles (as an Animal Crossing character) could be found roaming the virtual village featured in the playable demo of Animal Crossing DS.
