Charles Hart is a British lyricist, songwriter and musician. He was born in 1962 in London, and attended Robinson College, Cambridge.

He is best-known for co-writing the lyrics to The Phantom of the Opera (1986) with Richard Stilgoe, which has since been produced as a film. A documentary on the DVD for the movie suggests that Hart rewrote the majority of Stilgoe's score.
