Chamillionaire

Chamillionaire (pronounced "Kamillionaire," born Hakeem Seriki on November 28, 1979) is a rapper from the northside of Houston, Texas, specifically Acres Homes, who also uses the names The Mixtape Messiah and King Koopa professionally. He was born to a Muslim father and Christian mother and was raised in both faiths (he is currently a Christian). He is known for his ability to effortlessly change tempo and rhyme scheme of his rapping within a single song, and for the rapid, clear, and distinct quality of his delivery and voice. He is regarded by many hip-hop fans as one of the most lyrically talented emcees in the South, and has publicly stated that his aim is to prove that the South can produce New York-quality lyricists. He is also a talented hook writer and usually sings and harmonizes with himself (using double-tracked vocals) on his own hooks. In 2005, Chamillionaire signed a record deal for with Universal Records. His first major solo release is entitled The Sound of Revenge, and is scheduled to appear in September 2005. The album's lead single is entitled "Turn it up" and is produced by Scott Storch (#1 hits "Lean Back" by Terror Squad and "Candy Shop" by 50 Cent).

Chamillionaire started his career in show business working with the independent Houston record label Swishahouse. He would "flow" or freestyle over popular beats, and the tracks were often Chopped and Screwed. He then signed a contract with Paid In Full Records and worked with childhood friend Paul Wall there. The duo released their debut album, "Get Ya Mind Correct" under Paid in Full. The Album was a huge success for an independent album, reaching over 100,000 units sold. It is considered by many to be a southern independent classic. The two recorded under the name Color Changin' Click, under which they released a few mixtapes, but various issues ultimately led to their falling out. Chamillionaire then started his own label, Chamillitary Entertainment, which includes Houston rapper 50/50 Twin, and Chamillionaire's brother Rasaq. In 2006 he will be working on several projects with Clint Saulsberry. Under his Chamillitary label, he released The Mixtape Messiah which sold 40,000 units the first month, and has been distributed by Best Buy. With this release, he solidified his reputation as a popular solo artist.
