Central Plain

One of the geographical regions of Wisconsin is also called the Central Plain.

Central Plain, also called Central Land, specifically refers to the present day Henan province, but more generally indicates the area around the middle reaches of the Yellow River. In earlier times, in the pre-Quin era, present day Luoyang and its nearby areas were considered as the ?Centre of the World?, as the political seat of Xia Dynasty was located around Songshan and Yiluo River valley.

In some bronze object , inscriptions contain references to Middle Kingdom, Eastern Kingdom, or Southern Kingdom. This position also indicates that Central Plain, referred as the ?Middle Kingdom? in such bronze inscriptions was considered , in the ancient time, as the centre of the world.

The Songshu, official history of Song Dynasty states: ?Ancient emperors of ability rose in the northwest, that were able to conquer the Central Plain and further occupy the southeast." Zuge Liang, a famous military strategist has also stated that "he would lead an army to conquer the Central Plain." All these point to the fact that the Central Plain was an important place politically and strategically. This may be the reason that later dynasties often selected Luoyang and Kaifeng in the Central Plain as their capitals.
