Center for Global Studies Abroad


 

The Center for Global Studies Abroad (CGSA) is a magnet school which exists within Brien McMahon High School, in Norwalk, Connecticut. Its primary purpose is to teach students the language, history, and literature of the foreign countries Japan and China (although there are rumours of possible expansion to other countries. Each year students participate in an exchange program from Japan to American homes, and from America to both Japan (to Kojo and Bunkyo High Schools) and China.

The staff of the CGSA includes John Epifanio, a literature professor and head of the program, Keiko Sigmund, a Japanese language teacher, Cindy Hoffman, a teacher of both Japanese and Chinese History, Sean Driscoll, a Japanese language teacher, and Adriana Rickinson, a literature teacher.

There are currently over a hundred students enrolled in the program, and the number grows each year.

The program was, in the past, known as the Center For Japanese Studies Abroad, and dealt solely with Japanese studies.

The school's most famous alumnus is John Mayer.
