Centennial Day
Sometimes, a jurisdiction will declare a public holiday on the 100th anniversary of its founding, even if the anniversary is not normally a holiday. In English-speaking jurisdictions this will normally be known as Centennial Day.

In 2005 such a holiday may be declared in Alberta and/or Saskatchewan, where it would be held on September 1. Albertan Premier Ralph Klein had said he favours declaring a statutory holiday on September 1, but this plan did not receive approval from his caucus.
