- This article is about the ancient form of Christianity that existed in the British Isles until outlawed at the Synod of Whitby in 664 because of its competition with the Roman form of Christianity. The existence of a Celtic Church, or a Celtic Catholic Church (also known as "Culdee Church" is highly debated and controversial. This article will attempt to illustrate what is known about early Christianity in the British Isles.)
