CBGB

CBGB, also CBGB's or CB's is a club in the Manhattan Bowery district of New York City, New York. The full name is CBGB & OMFUG which stands for "Country, Bluegrass, and Blues and Other Music For Uplifting Gormandizers".

The future

It was recently announced that CBGB will possibly face closure in the near future; its lease expired on 31 August 2005, and talks between the property owner (Bowery Residents Committee) and Kristal have stalled over alleged unpaid rent and safety concerns. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/music/4203666.stm

The owner has been remarkably sanguine in the face of inevitability, recognizing that perhaps CBGB's time has come as the neighborhood continues its gentrification. In the event of the venue's closing, the owner has announced intentions to relocate to Las Vegas.
