She was the daughter of Sir Henry Knyvet of Charlton and Elizabeth Stumpe. Her brother was Sir Thomas Knyvet who foiled the gunpowder plot.

She married Robert Rich, son of Richard Rich and then Thomas Howard, 1st Earl of Suffolk.
