In 1842, he created the J I Case Company, becoming recognized as the first person to create a steam engine for agricultural use. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Case was later involved in politics, becoming major of Racine, Wisconsin three times. He was state senator twice. He was also involved in other endeavors, such as science and arts, banking, and overseeing of various Racine agricultural associations as president.
