Typho saw off Padmé and her Jedi protector Anakin Skywalker as they left for Naboo (Typho stayed on Coruscant with handmaiden Dormé). When Anakin's mentor Obi-Wan Kenobi told Typho he was worried about Anakin trying something "foolish" with Padme, Typho responded that it would be better than if Padme tried something. This unbiased comment was praised by fans who felt Star Wars could sometimes have underlying sexist qualities in dialogue. It also gives Typho a level of maturity that most male characters in the movies lack.

Captain Typho appears in the Clone Wars animated series, where Jedi Master Yoda uses a Force-assisted "persuasion" to get Typho to agree to a detour on Ilum (he initially objected on the grounds that it put Padme in danger). Although this was controversial in that it seemingly portrays Typho as "weak-minded", it would seem as though Yoda is powerful enough to use mind tricks on strong willed individuals.

Typho appeared again in ', although his role is reduced to a bare minimum. He was most likely ashamed that he could not prevent Padme Amidala's death. This is the last time Typho appears, as he is completely absent from the original Star Wars trilogy and has yet to appear in any post-Revenge of the Sith novels.
