Campeonato Mineiro
Campeonato Mineiro is the league played in the Brazilian southeastern State of Minas Gerais and is held by the Minas Gerais Soccer Federation FMF (Federação Mineira de Futebol).

The history of Campeonato Mineiro can be divided in two parts: before and after the build of Mineirão. Mineirão is the biggest soccer stadium of Minas Gerais. It was build in the Minas Gerais state capital, Belo Horizonte, and inaugurated in September of 1965. The age after the build of Mineirão, know as "Era Mineirão" (Mineirão Age), mark the rising of the youngest team of the capital, Cruzeiro, that took the place of América and joined Atlético as the biggest winner of Camponato Mineiro. Atletico is now the biggest winner with 38 titles, but Cruzeiro is the biggest winner of the "Era Mineirão" with 20 titles after 1965 against 16 titles of Atlético.

Many world soccer talents were first seen in the Campeonato Mineiro, players like Ronaldo and Tostão had they professional soccer debut in that league. Although many consider the league weak, Campeonato Mineiro always presents great games stimulated by the great rivalry of the capital teams América, Atlético and Cruzeiro.
