C. J. Cherryh


 

C. J. Cherryh is the slightly modified working name of author Carolyn Janice Cherry (born September 1, 1942), the sister of artist David A. Cherry. She has written more than 60 science fiction and fantasy books since the mid-1970s, including the Hugo Award winning Cyteen and Downbelow Station. A former resident of Oklahoma, she now lives near Spokane, Washington with author Jane Fancher. Born in St. Louis, Missouri, in 1964 she received a Bachelor of Arts in Latin from University of Oklahoma and in 1965 received a Master of Arts in classics from Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland.
