By the Way

By the Way is an album by the Red Hot Chili Peppers, released on July 9, 2002 (see 2002 in music). It is widely regarded as continuing where Californication, the band's previous album, left off, with relatively subdued funk rhythms compared to their earlier work. An exception to this is the title track, a fast-paced lyrical tune that became one of the band's most popular single releases, as well as "Can't Stop", another popular single released from the album. The album continued Californication's psychedelic influences, especially in the surreal music videos which accompanied the singles.
