Buxted
Buxted is a small village in Sussex (now East Sussex), near the larger town of Uckfield. It is in the High Weald Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

It is credited as being the birthplace of the cannon, although actually the cannon was invented in a small house near Five Ashes.

The centre of the village was originally the mansion known as Buxted Park. Buxted Park was the home of the family of Prime Minister the Earl of Liverpool. The village (although not the church of St Margaret) was cleared away in the 19th century order to provide more parkland for the mansion, and the village then moved to its present location along the High Street. Buxted Park was, during the Second World War (by which time it belonged to the shipping magnate Basil Ionides)

Buxted retains a railway station but the line, which formerly linked London and Brighton, now terminates at Uckfield instead of Brighton.
