The tracks have been improved and are now built for battling, with many alternate routes, shortcuts, and obstacles. Racers can also "check" (smash from behind) all traffic moving in the same direction as them except heavy vehicles like big rigs and buses. Checked traffic can even be used as a weapon against rivals once the player becomes skilled at aiming it.

The crash mode has been tweaked to incorporate a new launch system with which to propell your car from the starting line while wind physics have been introduced that affect the in air tragectory of your car. The weight of your car accounts for more now as it ploughs through traffic and flys through the air (the heavier your car the less affected by wind)
