Bug-Jargal
Bug-Jargal is a novel by the French writer Victor Hugo about an enslaved African prince who falls in love with a creole in one of France's Caribbean colonies. It also recounts an uprising against French rule. Victor Hugo was only 16 when he wrote the novel.
