Bruno Junqueira


 

Bruno Junqueira is a Brazilian racecar driver and veteran of the Champ Car World Series.

Junqueira started racing go-karts in Brazil before moving to Formula 3 and Formula 3000. He tested for the Williams Formula 1 team for many years, and came close to landing a race drive in 2000, losing out to Jenson Button. He rebounded from this setback, winning that year's International Formula 3000 Championship.

In 2001 Junqueira joined the Champ Car World Series driving for Chip Ganassi, he has raced in champ car ever since. Junqueira is considered a top driver in the series, although his success is also attributed to always being with a top team. Junqueira is known for his consistency. He has won races every year he has been in the series, and finished second in the championship standings for three years in a row, from 2002-2004.

In 2005, Junqueira was injured in an accident in the Indianapolis 500, while lapping A.J. Foyt IV. Due to his injuries, he has missed much of the 2005 Champ Car season. Junqueira was the Champ Car points leader at the time.
