~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ He ran a firm of safari guides in Africa. He married his cousin, Karen Blixen, in Kenya, and they bought a coffee plantation. However, the marriage was an unhappy one and ended in divorce, with Karen remaining on the plantation. She is best known by her pseudonym, Isak Dinesen. He was also a talented writer. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ He contracted syphilis and gave it to his wife. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
