  • # Their descendants in Roman Britain, and the period up to the Norman Conquest (see History of Britain), and the indigenous inhabitants of Scotland at this time (referring to Brythonic Celtic people, as opposed to Romans or Anglo-Saxons).
  • In a modern context (sometimes shortened to 'Brit'):
  • # A resident and/or citizen of the United Kingdom.
  • # A person indigenous to Great Britain, or member of Britain's indigenous majority.
  • # a member of the British ethnic group either in the United Kingdom or abroad.
