Brentwood (borough)


 

Brentwood is a local government district and borough in Essex in the East of England. It is named after Brentwood which is the main development in the area.

The borough is suburban in character around Brentwood and Shenfield but once outside these main settlements it is entirely rural. There are railway stations at Brentwood, Shenfield and Ingatestone which connect to Liverpool Street station in the City of London. Shenfield and Ingatestone are served by fast mainline services while Brentwood is served by slower, stopping trains.

To the north west it borders Epping Forest district and to the east it borders Basildon district. To the south west the borough has a border with the London Borough of Havering and to the south with the borough and unitary authority of Thurrock. The M25 motorway forms part of the boroughs boundary with Greater London to the west and the London, Tilbury and Southend Railway forms the southern boundary.
