Brandon Routh

Brandon James Routh (born October 9, 1979 in Des Moines, Iowa) is an American film actor who has been cast for the lead role in the latest Superman movie: Superman Returns.

Although born in Des Moines, Routh grew up in Norwalk. He attended the University of Iowa and starred in many productions at the Norwalk Theater of Performing Arts.

His first professional acting role was in the ABC television series Odd Man Out, and he went on to guest star in CBS's Cold Case, NBC's Will and Grace, the WB's Gilmore Girls and MTV's Undressed. Routh also appeared as an extra in Christina Aguilera's music video for "What a Girl Wants."

Superman Returns director Bryan Singer wanted an unknown actor to play the part of the famed comic book superhero. Within the first few minutes of meeting Routh, he knew " is my Superman."
