Boycott Aruba has emerged from claims of institutional racism and violations of victims rights in Aruba.

On January 29 2004, Dr. Arianna Mathew called for a boycott of the island of Aruba following the incarceration of her husband, Eduardo Mathew. After his release, Mathew alleged institutional racism against black inmates and filed a lawsuit with the European Court of Human Rights.
