Bowling Green State University
Bowling Green State University (BGSU) is a public, four-year institution located in Bowling Green, Ohio, USA; about 20 miles south of Toledo, Ohio on I-75. It was established in 1910; as of 2003 it boasts a student body of about 20,200. It offers over 200 undergraduate programs, as well as master's and doctoral degrees in a variety of areas, including the nation's first Ph.D. program in photochemical science. In addition, BGSU has accreditation from the Higher Learning Commission (HLC) of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools to offer full degree programs online. In sports, BGSU is a member of the Mid-American Conference (MAC) and Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA), and was the 1984 NCAA national hockey champion; its mascots are Freddie and Frieda Falcon. The student operated, independent daily newspaper is the BG News. The student operated, independent college radio station is WBGU 88.1 FM.
