Bourne End, Buckinghamshire

Bourne End is a village in the parish of Wooburn, in Buckinghamshire, England. It is situated near the border with Berkshire, where a smaller river meets the River Thames.

Today the village sits half way between the M4 and M40 motorways, meaning that it is a short distance from central London, and a very popular place for commuters to live.

Bourne End has a railway station on the Maidenhead to Marlow branch line. However, the future of this railway station has recently been called into question due to lack of funding, and there have been suggestions that it may have to be run voluntarily, as a community railway line{{fn|1}}.

Bourne End has two primary schools, Westfield and Claytons, and one secondary school, Wye Valley. Most of the shops in the area are located in an area called the Parade. There is a marina near the Thames and in recent years this has been developed by Michael Shanley Homes to create many luxury houses and apartments. However, the developments have sparked controversy with local environmental groups.

Popular local events include "Fun Night" held every December as well as car boot sales held by the local community. The village is twinned with Octeville-Sur-Mer in France.
