Bonaventura Cavalieri
Bonaventura Cavalieri (1598–1647) was an Italian mathematician best known today for Cavalieri's principle, which states that if two objects composed of parallel planes have the same cross-sectional area, and if the distance between the parallel planes in both objects is the same, the two objects have the same volume.
