Bob Goodlatte
Robert William "Bob" Goodlatte (born September 22 1952) is a Republican U.S. Representative from Virginia. Born in Holyoke, Massachusetts, Goodlatte received a B.A. from Bates College in Lewiston, Maine in 1974. He also holds a J.D. from Washington and Lee University in Lexington, Virginia (1977). Goodlatte was an attorney in prviate practice in his early professional career before becoming a staff aide for U.S. Representative M. Caldwell Butler of Virginia, from 1977-1979. He was elected as a Republican to the One Hundred Third and to the six succeeding Congresses (January 3, 1993-present), representing the Sixth Congressional District of Virginia (map). In the One Hundred Eighth and succeeding Congress, Goodlatte served as chair of the House Committee on Agriculture.

Congress Approves Computer Fraud Bill
Legislation imposing stiffer penalties and prison terms for criminal acts involving computer fraud. The Identity Theft Enforcement and Restitution Act of 2008 allows victims of identity theft to seek restitution for time and money spent in restoring credit. The legislation also expands the federal definition of cyber extortion to include a demand for money in relation to damage to a protected computer.
