Newpark Music School, incorporating the acclaimed Newpark Jazz School, is also located here. Carysfort College was a large college of education located in the area until its closure in 1988.

Marian Park is a small estate behind Newpark school and running parallel to Harry Acre's farm. This estate was used as a location for the 1995 indie film "How to cheat at the leaving certificate" starring local residents Kenneth Monaghan and Peter Byrne.
