Biollante

Biollante (ビオランテ - Biorante) is a Kaiju that appeared in the 1989 film Godzilla vs Biollante. Biollante is one of the realatively few human-originated Kaiju in the Godzilla movies. Biollante is a genetic hybrid of human, rose and Godzilla, created by the Japanese scientist Dr. Shiragami.

Biollante was originally a human girl called Erika (played by actress Yasuko Sawaguchi), the daughter of Dr. Shiragami, a scientist experimenting in using Godzilla's cells to combine with plants to create a super-strong crop species that can be used to convert the desert nation of Saradia into a vast granary. When Erika is killed by a terrorist firebomb attack, Shiragami combines some of her DNA with that of a rose. When the rose is damaged in an accident, Shiragami secretly combines some of Godzilla's DNA with the plant, inadverdently creating a monster that escapes from his lab and takes residence in the nearby Lake Ashino.

Biollante has two forms; her first is a giant, fanged rose whilst the second is a nightmarish creature that mingles reptillian features with a plantlike body. In her first phase she is inoffensive, fighting solely in defense, but once she mutates into her second form Godzilla's DNA becomes more evident as she becomes yet another scourge of humanity, destroying everything in her path.

Biollante's monstrous form is the more offensive of the two, possessing greater speed and an enhanced biting capacity due to the development of a crocodillian maw. In either form, she has the ability to project long thorny vines, tipped with gnashing fang-filled mouths, from her body. These can be used to bite, pummel or constrict her foes and she can even burrow them through the soil to attack a foe from an unexpected quarter. She also possesses a devastating ranged attack; an acidic stream of radioactive sap.
