A Bio-implant may be defined as artificial organic material that can be surgically implanted into a person's body to replace damaged tissue http://www.powernet.net/~jcrafton/medtech.html. The common areas of application include orthopedic (especially maxillofacial) reconstructive Prosthesis, cardiac prostheses (artificial Heart valves like Chitra heart valve), Skin and Cornea.
