Billy Squier

Billy Squier had a string of arena rock and power ballad hits in the early 80's. He is probably best known for the song "The Stroke" on his 1981 release "Don't Say No". Other hits include "In The Dark", "Rock Me Tonite" and "Everybody Wants You".

Originally, he performed with the band The Sidewinders, a band that premiered during the early 1970's. He played with members of the band inlcuding Mike Reed, Henry Stern, and Bryan Chase. Squier left that band to form the band Piper, which released a couple albums in the mid 70's, but broke off soon after. He then persued a solo career.

He signed with Capitol Records to release his solo debut in 1980. "Tale of the Tape" was a hit. One reason is that Squier played a mixture of pop and rock, which earned him a large crossover audience.

Squier is also known for his collaborations with Freddie Mercury ("Love Is The Hero", 1986; "Lady With A Tenor Sax", 1986)

He performs to this day, only he does a bit more acoustic than before. He last performed September 5, 2005, opening for Def Leppard.
