Beth (song)
Single history
"Beth" originally appeared as the B-side of the "Detroit Rock City" single in July 1976. When that single failed to chart, radio disc jockeys in some markets decided to flip the single and play "Beth." The response was immediate and overwhelming, and led to the song being reissued as an A-side (the fourth from Destroyer) in August. It peaked at #7 in September.

Not only was the single a huge hit, it also was a major factor in reviving the flagging sales of Destroyer, which had been close to disappearing from the album charts in August. On the heels of the single's success, the album rose from #192 to a peak of #37 on the Billboard album charts (it had peaked at #11 before dropping initially).

In 1977, Kiss received a People's Choice Award for "Beth," one of the few industry awards the band ever won.
