Bertrand de Jouvenel
Bertrand de Jouvenel 1903-1987, French philosopher and political economist. Bertrand de Jouvenel was the son of Henry de Jouvenel, the second husband of French writer Colette.

Bertrand de Jouvenel began his career as a private secretary to Eduard Benes, Czechoslovakia's first prime minister.

In 1919, at the age of 16, Bertrand began an affair with his stepmother, Colette. The affair ended Colettes marriage and caused a scandal. It lasted until 1924. Bertrand is the role model for the title character in Colette's novel Chéri.

In the early 1930s, Bertrand de Jouvenel married war correspondent Martha Gellhorn. The marriage was short lived. His second wife was Helene.
