Benbecula
Benbecula (Scottish Gaelic: Beinn na Faoghla, meaning "the mountain of the ford") is an island of the Outer Hebrides of Scotland. In the 2001 census it had a usually resident population of 1,249. It is administratively part of the Western Isles Region. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

It is the main administrative centre for the Uists and has the council offices and the admin centre for the artillery deep sea firing range on South Uist.
