Belting
Belting is the substantive derived from the verb to Belt, and hence has the same heterogenous meanings.
vocal belting
To belt out means to sing in a very loud voice, generally without subtlety. It can also describe a specific technique of singing. Definitions differ, but it seems to imply a woman's use of a strong chest voice for notes high enough that she would naturally use her head voice. The resulting tone is tense and less sweet than other styles.
