Given the huge number of species there are few ecological niches that have not been conquered by beetles. Although there are no known examples of ocean going or arctic beetles, there are certainly species that can tolerate the salt rich environment of the sea shore.

There are various examples of relationships between species of ants and beetles, symbiotic or otherwise.

There are also several examples of predatory wasps using both adult beetles and their larvae as living larders.
