- In 1939 HMS Achilles (His Majesty's Ship Achilles) was part of the New Zealand Division of the Royal (British) Navy. She became HMNZS Achilles (His Majesty's New Zealand Ship Achilles) when the Royal New Zealand Navy was formed in 1941.
