Battle of Fuentes de Onoro
The Battle of Fuentes de Onoro was fought on May 3 - 5, 1811 and resulted in an undecided battle between French troops under Marshall André Masséna and British under Arthur Wellesley, 1st Duke of Wellington. Massena was forced to give up his attempt at taking Portugal. Masséna was trying to relieve Almeida, a besieged fortress and he set off with 50,000 men. He came up against the Duke of Wellington with his 36,000 men. On the 3rd of May, Massena launched 5 battalions against 2000 light infantrymen.
