Batman Begins

Batman Begins is a 2005 American superhero/action film based on the comic book fictional character Batman. The film was first released on June 15, 2005. It was directed by Christopher Nolan and written by Nolan and David S. Goyer. Although it is the fifth live-action Batman film since 1989, the movie is neither a sequel nor a prequel to the previous Tim Burton/Joel Schumacher films, but rather a complete reboot of the Batman series that more closely follows the mood of the Batman comics (much like the film adaptation of The Sum of All Fears in the Jack Ryan series).

Sequels

Warner Brothers has announced its intentions to make a sequel to Batman Begins with most of the film's main cast, including Christian Bale, returning. This would make Bale the first actor since Michael Keaton (who appeared in the first and second movies) to play Batman more than once. At this time, director Christopher Nolan and screenwriter David S. Goyer will be returning for the sequels, though Goyer revealed in an interview that he and Nolan have devised a rough scenario for a trilogy, using The Joker as the antagonist in the second film and Two-Face in the third. On August 22 2005, producer Charles Roven denied that any villain had been decided upon, and that the reference to the Joker was intended as a tip of the hat to the 1989 Batman film http://www.superherohype.com/news/batmannews.php?id=3422, although most fans believe that statement is meant to throw speculators off track and raise anticipation. Nolan will return to do the sequels, and maybe back to back, after he finished filming The Exec. The rumored title of the sequel (or sequels) are Batman Strikes and/or Batman Attacks.
