Ballerup


 
 

Ballerup is a municipality (Danish, kommune) in Copenhagen County on the island of Zealand (Sj?lland) in eastern Denmark. The municipality covers an area of 34 km?, and has a total population of 46,759 (2005). Its mayor is Ove E. Dalsgaard, a member of the Social Democrats (Socialdemokraterne) political party.

Neighboring municipalities are Herlev to the east, V?rl?se to the north, Stenl?se and Led?je-Sm?rum to the west, and Albertslund and Glostrup to the south.

Ballerup municipality will not be merged with other municipalities by January 1, 2007 as the result of nationwide Kommunalreformen ("The Municipality Reform" of 2007).
