Balcerowicz Plan
The Balcerowicz Plan (Plan Balcerowicza), also termed "Shock Therapy" was a method espoused by Leszek Balcerowicz to transition former state controlled (i.e. Communist or Socialist Goverments) rapidly to market economies and onwards to full fledged Capitalist systems. This plan adovcated changing political systems to democracies and the former state controlled economies to capitalism. These rapid transitions were difficult undertakings for the countries such as Poland that used them and instability and hardship were some of the outcomes before conditions improved.
