Sherlock Holmes was played by Fritz Weaver, Dr. Watson by Peter Sallis, Professor Moriarty by Martin Gabel and Irene Adler by Inga Swenson. The story differed from Conan Doyle's work in that Irene Adler became an associate of Holmes rather than an opponent, and there was an element of romance between them.
