Axl Rose

W. Axl Rose (born February 6, 1962) is an American hard rock singer and songwriter, born as William Bruce Bailey in Lafayette, Indiana.

For a few years Axl returned into soliditude. The new album was never released and he began work on another album without Slash. In 1996, he hired Robin Finck of Nine Inch Nails fame as a guitarist. In 2000, Buckethead joined the band, as well as Richard Fortus on guitar in 2002, Brian Mantia on drums (also in 2000), and Dizzy Reed returned to the keyboards yet again.

Sheryl Crow also covered the song Sweet Child O' Mine for the Big Daddy film soundtrack in 1999. Axl himself secretly recorded a new version of the song with his new band line-up. (The new version plays during the end credits of the film, and Axl used the exact same vocal track as he used for the Live Era album. From beginning to solo is Live Era track and after solo his new vocal track, replacing Slash's guitar work and Duff's bass guitar with his new band's musical style.)

Rose also at this time revealed the title to the album of new material the new band was working on, Chinese Democracy. After several rumored release dates, the album had yet to see the light of day.
