Avi Lewis


 

Avi Lewis is a Canadian television journalist and documentary filmmaker. He is married to author and activist Naomi Klein, and is the son of Stephen Lewis, United Nations special envoy for HIV/AIDS in Africa, and Canadian journalist Michele Landsberg.

Lewis was host of The New Music, a music magazine show on MuchMusic and CityTV in Canada between 1995 and 1998. He was also MuchMusic's political specialist, who did extensive special events coverage for the channel in order to engage youth in the political process, including the Canadian federal election, 1993 and the 1995 Quebec referendum.

He went on to host CBC Television's current affairs discussion show, counterSpin. In 2004, Lewis and Klein collaborated on a documentary, The Take, that looked at globalization and economic reform in Argentina.
