~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Originally a biweekly motorsports newspaper named Competition Press, it began publishing news and reviews in the mid-1960s. As vehicle reviews and automotive news became more of the publication's focus, its name was changed to Competition News & AutoWeek and it began to publish weekly. In the mid-1980s, under the direction of longtime editor and publisher Leon Mandel, changed its name to simply AutoWeek and transformed from a tabloid newspaper into a magazine. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Regarded automotive journalist Rich Ceppos is now the publisher of AutoWeek and Leon's son, Dutch Mandel, is the editor. To date, AutoWeeks Executive Editor is Kevin A. Wilson. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ AutoWeek is published by Crain Communications, which also publishes Automotive News.
